BLACKBURN Rovers ace Jason Lowe believes it is no surprise that skipper Grant Hanley is catching the eye of other clubs.

The Rovers captain, who played 90 minutes for Scotland in their defeat to Italy on Sunday night, has reportedly attracted the interest of Championship side Fulham and Scottish Premiership new boys Rangers.

And Lowe, who made his return to action at the tail end of the season having overcome a foot problem, believes Hanley will have plenty of admirers given the season he has had.

“I think he’s probably my stand-out player over the year in consistency wise,” Lowe said of Hanley who was named Rovers’ player of the year. “I’m pleased for him because I know how hard he works and how hard he tries.

“He’s had his critics over the years, as have a lot of players, but I’m really happy for him this year, I think he’s been absolutely brilliant for us.

“He’s been solid as a rock, he’s done his job as well as anybody has done their job, and if you want a defender to defend, he’s the one you look at.”

Hanley, who has two years still to run on his Rovers deal, can expect to be involved with his national team again this weekend with Scotland taking on Euro 2016 hosts France in an international friendly on Saturday.

Should the 24-year-old move to Fulham to would be the second summer running that Rovers’ player of the season left Ewood for Craven Cottage following Tom Cairney’s move 12 months ago.

But any deal for Hanley is unlikely to be go through while Rovers are still without a manager.

The club have interviewed Manchester United Under-21 boss Warren Joyce and former Cardiff City boss Russell Slade while Alex McLeish has also emerged as a frontrunner with the bookmakers in recent days.

Venky’s are now considering the merits of Slade, Joyce and the other candidates the club has interviewed.

It remains unclear whether there is still scope for new names to come into the frame.
