SPORTY students at Colne Primet Academy are once again celebrating victory following this year’s Pendle Schools’ Rugby Tournament.

Having won the Year 9 Pendle School Rugby Tournament the previous year, the Year 10 rugby team triumphed again – beating Ss John Fisher and Thomas More RC High School in the tournament final by 10 tries to three.

Carl Thomas, PE Teacher and Duke of Edinburgh coordinator, said: “Led by Madison Hunting as their captain, the Year 10 team put in a superb performance from start to finish and thoroughly deserved their win on the day.

“The Year 9 rugby team also performed well against very difficult opposition the next day, with a battling victory over Pendle Vale - the highlight of their tournament.”

As well as promoting health and fitness within school time, Colne Primet Academy also has a range of clubs for its students to join – including badminton, frisbee and basketball. Last year also saw the launch of new £715,000 facilities at the Academy – included a revamped sports hall, changing rooms and gym.
