Rossendale 33

Burnage 8

A BONUS try win was just the tonic Rossendale needed after defeat at the hands of Sheffield Tigers and Lymm in their previous two outings.

Still with two and in some cases three games in hand the Marl Pits side still have a chance of a top four finish and with six of their remaining nine games at home it would be foolish to count against them.

In a very close first half Rossendale edged it 5-3 a try by George Peel, the winger cutting across from the opposite wing to take advantage of a powerful scrum by the pack.

In the second half Rossendale went up through the gears with a try from Alex Hurst on the hour, up in support of a break by Danny Collins carried on by Sam Atiola.

A 30 metre drive from a line out sucking in defenders created the space for Rob Foxen to take the third and it was Foxen again minutes later taking the bonus point after Burnage had been driven off their own ball at a scrum.

With the Rossendale pack on top throughout it was fitting that the final try came from a push over, Dominic Noon claiming the honours. Steve Nutt kicked four out of five conversions.
