LAURA Massaro set up a semi-final with Welsh number one Tesni Evans after a comfortable last eight victory at the National Squash Championships in Manchester.

The Hoghton ace is going for a third national title and she eased into the last four with a 11-5, 11-4, 11-3 win over sixth seed Victoria Lust.

"I felt I got better as the match went on, looking forward to the semi-final now," said Massaro after her 30 minute win.

Massaro, playing her first Nationals as the world number one, came through her first round match in just 23 minutes defeating 18-year-old Georgina Kennedy on Thursday night.

But Massaro said the London-born teenager reminder her of herself when she was first starting out in the game.

“It’s good to get the first win under my belt,” said Massaro after her first round match. “Georgina is a very talented young player.

“Playing her reminded me of when I was young . It’s really refreshing to see a young woman playing with such commitment and running down every ball.”

Massaro admitted she used her number one status to power to victory against Kennedy - having been on the receiving end of a defeat to the best in the world when she was a youngster.

“I think I played the number one in the world at Nationals when I was about her age and it can be a bit intimidating,” she added.

“So this time, I used that to my advantage.”
