ENTRIES are now being taken for Blackburn with Darwen Sports Council’s annual sport awards.

There are 13 categories that cover every aspect of individual and team amateur sport - from those who have excelled in their particular sport to those who have served their sport with distinction for many years.

The full list of categories are:

Coach Of The Year, Young Volunteer Of The Year( 14- 25), Community Club Of The Year, Rising Star( 18 Or Under), Lifetime Achievement Award, Junior Sports Personality, Services To Disability Sport, Senior Sports Personality, Official Of The Year, Senior Volunteer Of The Year( Over 25), Teamof The Year( Pair Or Team), School Of The Year For Sport and Special Recognition School Of The Year For Sport ( Primary).

The closing date for entry is Thursday, March 31.

All entries should be sent to Blackburn with Darwen Sports Council chairman John Flannery at 73 Ferrier Close, Blackburn BBI 3LN.

The annual Blackburn with Darwen Sports Council sports awards, now in their 50th year, will be held at Blakey’s Cafe, King George’s Hall, Blackburn on Friday, May 13 from 7pm.

“This is the 50th year the Blackburn with Darwen Sports Council has been running in its current format and we would love to make it an extra special evening,” said Flannery.

“We are hoping to get plenty of ex-winners there on the night and hopefully it was be a great occasion.”
