BLACKBURN Rovers’ Championship clash at home to Middlesbrough has been rearranged for a second time, at the request of the Football League.

The postponed Ewood Park clash, which was rained off on Boxing Day, was set to go-ahead on Tuesday, February 16.

But the League have requested that it now take place on Tuesday, March 1 (7.45pm) as it will assist ‘with its wider fixture scheduling requirements’.

However if both clubs fail to progress in the FA Cup this weekend, and Fulham and MK Dons reach the fourth round, then the game will be brought forward to Saturday, January 30 (3pm kick-off).

On that day Rovers are scheduled to host Fulham and Boro are scheduled to travel to MK Dons in the Championship.

A Football League spokesperson said: “Initially, the two clubs agreed that the game would be rearranged for Tuesday 16th February, with the new date being publicised by The Football League and both clubs.

“However, following further discussions between the League and the two clubs a new date has been agreed that will assist the League with its wider fixture scheduling requirements.

“The Football League wishes to apologise to supporters of Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough for any inconvenience this further change might cause and we would like to thank the two clubs for their understanding in the circumstances.”
