Lancashire Schoolgirls U16s 6 Merseyside Schoolgirls U16s 0

LANCASHIRE Schoolgirls Under 16s followed up last week’s impressive 4-1 win over Cheshire by hitting Merseyside for six.

Olivia Wilkes, the daughter of Padiham FC manager Steve Wilkes, once again impressed with two superb strikes while there were also goals for Blackburn and Darwen duo Ebony Stinson and Kaya-Lily Pottinger.

Merseyside put up stubborn resistance in the early exchanges but their defence was finally unlocked just passed the half hour mark when Wilkes opened the scoring.

And five minutes later, Wilkes grabbed hers and Lancashire’s second to double the lead.

Hannah Walsh of South Ribble then blasted home a superb 30-yard free kick just before the break to put the Red Rose county fully in control.

And there was no way back for Merseyside when Stinson made it 4-0 with a goal early in the second half with a shot that deceived the keeper.

Pottinger added a fifth goal when her tremendous pace took her clear of the Merseyside defence and Ellie Spooner of Blackpool completed the rout.
