FOX and Hounds brushed aside Rishton Con Club to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season.

Rishton were woeful as they threw away a 3-0 lead against the Ewood outfit.

Wins for Jonny Hannan, Chris Lawson, and Lawson and partner Craig Steele in the opening doubles gave the home side the perfect start but, once again, it was Fox and Hounds’ Simon Ashe who turned things around. A series of 20-plus breaks gave him a convincing win against Alan Heaton and in the next frame, Ged Patton overcame a battling performance from Steele to make it 3-2.

It was that man Ashe and partner Patton again in the doubles, Ashe clearing the table from yellow to steal the frame after a 45 break from Nathan Bridges looked set to restore the Rishton lead.

The last two frames saw Fox enjoy the run their play deserved as skipper Derek Haworth came out on top of a scrappy one against Bridges and 70-year-old Mick McHugh showed he has lost none of his tactical nous, beating Gaz Hampson 56-19 to seal a worthy win for Fox.

Feniscowles A suffered a setback, losing 6-2 at Mill Hill A.

Rishton Golf Club were the visitors at the Park and the teams shared the points in an entertaining match.

Dave O’Kane has been in terrific form and another break – this time 49 – gave Park the opener. A good win for Chris Philiben and an even easier victory for the Haworths in the pairs gave the visitors a 2-1 lead.

Mark Jennings was still stinging after last week’s performance and he showed no mercy as he dispatched Chris Wolfenden with the aid of a nice run of 42. Park were behind again after the next, another win for the underrated Ron Hutchinson, but they hit back immediately with a solid win for Jennings and partner Mick Almond in the pairs.

Steve Halliwell made his season’s debut in the next and he might have wished he hadn’t bothered, losing to Liam Masterman.

A good showing from Steve Aspinall to beat Tony Haworth in the last ended proceedings.

Champions Potters’ bad start continued with a 6-2 defeat at home against Hoddlesden Con.

Wins for Dave Fenwick and Jim Ollerton set Hoddlesden on their way before Potters’ Ibby Khan and Murad Iqbal pulled one back in the doubles.

The only other point for the side came from Haider Ali.

Triumphs for Ash Taylor, Jake Loftus and Joe Roebuck along with a doubles win for Loftus and Jas Hoole put the seal on a convincing victory for Hoddlesden.

The division’s other fixture ended Orchard 3 Blackburn Golf A 5.

Punch Hotel and Feniscowles B are leading the charge in division two after both secured wins.

Division two results: Punch Hotel 7-1 Wilpshire B, Feniscowles B 5-3 Potters B, Hollins Grove 4-4 Darwen Golf Club, Blackburn Golf B 4-4 Mill Hill B, Anchor 4-4 Wilpshire A.
