BLACKBURN Rovers have re-signed defender Doneil Henry on loan from West Ham United.

The 22-year-old centre-back, who impressed during a short spell on loan at Rovers last season, has put pen to paper on an initial deal that will see him remain at Ewood Park until January 3.

Henry told the club’s official website: “It is great to be back here again, it is a great club.

“The last time I was here I felt really welcomed, I got tossed in right away and felt it was made really easy because of how great the guys were here.

“So I’m just looking to train hard and play my part and give all I have for the team.”

Henry made three appearances for Rovers in March after joining on a one-month loan from the Hammers.

Just hours after signing the Canada international produced a composed debut display in a 2-1 triumph at Sheffield Wednesday.

Henry, who has played right-back for his country, then set-up Jordan Rhodes’ winner in the 1-0 home victory over Bolton Wanderers.

He then helped Rovers to a third successive success but the hamstring injury he sustained in the second half of the 3-1 win at Charlton Athletic saw him return to West Ham for surgery.

New Rovers boss Paul Lambert, who has space for one more signing before the emergency loan window closes on Thursday, said: “I’m delighted to be able to bring Doneil back. I know that he did very well last time he was here, prior to his injury.

“We felt that it was important to add an extra body to the defensive department and Doneil was the obvious choice.”

Henry is in line to make his second Rovers debut, once more against Sheffield Wednesday, on Saturday.

It will be Lambert’s first home game in charge.
