NEW Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Lambert has a specific role in mind for Blackburn Rovers’ Mr Versatile tomorrow.

But Rovers fans will have to wait until kick-off against Preston North End to discover exactly where Ben Marshall will line-up.

In-form Marshall has operated on both wings, behind the striker and, in the final five games of Gary Bowyer’s reign, at right-back this season.

But while Lambert was not giving away where the former England Under-21 international would start in the Deepdale derby, he admitted to being impressed by his ability.

“I know where I’m going with Ben but I won’t tell you because Ben will think he’s playing then,” laughed the Glaswegian when asked where he feels Marshall’s best position is.

“But I know in my own head what I think and I know exactly what’s going to happen at the weekend on that.

“Again, he’s another talented guy. Offensively he’s very good with both feet and he’s definitely got an eye for a goal.

“I saw him a long time ago and he kind of lost his way a little bit but what I’ve seen in training he’s been very impressive.”

At his Ewood Park unveiling on Monday Lambert hailed the goalscoring prowess of striker Jordan Rhodes.

But yesterday he added: “Everybody has to try and chip in. We can’t just leave the burden to Jordan. It’s too much to carry. We have to get goals from different areas of the pitch.

“We’ve got a talented offensive group here, which can make things happen, and they’ve got to take responsibility as well, to chip in with a few goals.

“There is a talented group here definitely offensively.”
