JORDAN Rhodes is eyeing a place in the exclusive Blackburn Rovers 100 club.

Eight goals in his last 10 games means red-hot Rhodes has now scored 82 times in 156 appearances for Rovers.

And the prolific striker admits he would love to become the first player since Alan Shearer – and only the 11th in the Ewood Park outfit’s rich 140-year history – to bring up a century of strikes for the club.

Rhodes, who netted 87 goals in 149 games for Huddersfield Town before making a club record £8m move to Rovers in August 2012, said: “100 would be a nice total.

“I don’t know the stats so I don’t know how many people are in that exclusive club but it would be nice to be part of it.

“It’s something I left Huddersfield a little bit short of – I think I got to 87 – so it would be nice to be part of a 100-club.”

If Rhodes is to bring up the milestone before the current campaign is over he is most likely going to have the become only the second player in the club’s history – after Tommy Briggs – to score more than 20 league goals for four seasons running.

The 25-year-old, who will lead the line in tomorrow’s Ewood Park clash with Brentford, netted 28, 25 and 21 times in his first three seasons with Rovers with all bar one of those goals coming in the Championship.

And Rhodes said: “Credit has to go to my team-mates and the staff as without their help – with their assists on the field, and knowledge, training and working with me off it – none of it would be possible.”

Rhodes was unable to add to his stunning Rovers tally in midweek as Gary Bowyer’s side were held to a 0-0 draw at Birmingham City.

But he will be aiming to get back on the goal trail tomorrow against a club which holds a special place in his heart.

The Scotland international had a loan spell at Brentford in the second half of the 2008-09 season.

He became the youngest player in the club’s history to score a hat-trick, five days short of his 19th birthday, before a foot injury, exactly the same as the one Rovers team-mate Jason Lowe is currently recovering from, cut short his highly successful stay.

“I was 18 when I went there, and I had my 19th birthday there, and I really enjoyed it,” said Rhodes, whose return of seven goals in 14 appearances helped the Bees to the League Two title.

“They made it really worthwhile for me and looking back on my career, and where things turned, going there as an 18-year-old pro, and playing League Two football – rough and ready football – was great for me.

“Playing up front with Charlie MacDonald, and Andy Scott, the manager there at that time, was really good, and I do look back with fond memories.”

The 10 players to score 100 goals for Rovers, in alphabetical order, are: Tommy Briggs (143), Jack Bruton (115), Peter Dobing (104), Bryan Douglas (115), Simon Garner (192), Ted Harper (122), Eddie Latheron (104), Andy McEvoy (103), Alan Shearer (130) and Jack Southworth (121).
