BLACKBURN Rovers midfielder Lee Williamson will travel to East Asia next week after winning another Jamaica call-up – as Huddersfield Town pass up the chance to sign Leon Best.
Williamson has been included in the Reggae Boyz squad for their international friendly against South Korea at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Tuesday.
He made his international debut last month, at the age of 33, as Jamaica beat Nicaragua to progress to the CONCACAF fourth qualifying round for the 2018 World Cup.
Williamson’s former Rovers team-mate Best, meanwhile, has left Huddersfield.
The striker, who came to an agreement to cancel the final 12 months of his Ewood Park contract in the summer, played in a development match for the Terriers.
But, after holding initial talks, Huddersfield have not been able to agree a deal with Best.
Former Burnley midfielder Ross Wallace, meanwhile, has been named the PFA Fans’ Championship Player of the Month for September.
Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes and Burnley defender Michael Keane, who once had a loan spell at Ewood Park, were in the initial running.
