THERE was mixed success for local rugby teams competing in the Lancashire Cup at the weekend.
While Blackburn enjoyed a big win, Burnley were on the receiving end of a heavy loss.
Blackburn, who kick off their league campaign on Saturday, enjoyed a 47-0 win against Aldwinians.
However Burnley lost 46-10 at Lancashire North rivals Trafford MV.
But Burnley will have an chance to avenge that defeat when they host the Manchester outfit in the opening league encounter on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a series of rugby coaching courses will be held across the North West to help improve the game at junior level.
Rugby Ready - pre-requisite for Level 1 and 2 coaching courses - will be held at Preston Grasshoppers RFC on Monday, September 7 (6-9pm), Old Modernians RUFC, Sunday, October 18 and Southport RUFC on Monday, November 9.
Scrum Factory will be held at Preston Grasshoppers RFC on Monday, November 9 (6pm-9pm), Southport RUFC onMonday, November 23 (6-9pm) and Harrogate RFC on Wednesday, October 7 (6.30-9pm).
And a UKCC Level 1 - Introducing Children to Rugby Union - will be held at Skipton RFC on Sundays, November 1, 15, 22 and at Bolton School, Sundays December 13, January 10, 31.
