I THINK Blackburn Rovers have got to be more offensive and not be scared of teams.

At times to me it looks like the plan, first and foremost, is to be cautious, and then in the final 10-15 minutes of each half, look to bombard the opposition goal, and try and nick a goal from there.

But I am of the belief that if you start thinking, ‘we are a better team than the opposition, and we are going to play to our capabilities’, you will get better results.

On Friday Bolton did not much offer much going forward. I looked at the two teams and thought Blackburn definitely looked the stronger.

It was a shame, then, that they did not have more of a go at Bolton because, if they did, I’m sure they would have beaten them.

In particular I thought Blackburn should have had a go at their young centre-half Prince. Instead they let him settle into the game and let him become stronger and better.

You’ve got to put the pressure on young bucks like that right away to see if they can handle it. But, unfortunately, Blackburn laid off him.

That was disappointing because, once they did put the pressure on, they showed once again that they can create chances.

Shane Duffy had two headers, Jordan Rhodes had two headers, and there were a few other chances as well.

So that’s seven decent chances from 18 attempts at goal.

But, while that’s all well and good, only one hit the target. That’s just poor shooting.

But as a player you always have to try and take the positives.

And the positive to come out of Friday night was that they created chances for the third match running.

If we weren’t creating those chances, I’d be worried. But we are creating those chances; it’s just that we’re not putting them away.

It’s a double-edged sword because, at the end of the day, you have to start taking them or otherwise it will continue to hurt you.

And it is hurting Blackburn – you only have to take one look at the table for that.

I think there’s massive room for improvement and there always is when you are sitting just outside the bottom three.

But, to be honest, I don’t like looking at the table at this stage of the season.

Of course it doesn’t read well but all you need is to win your next two games and you will jump right up.

But can Blackburn win two games on the run?

I think they can but they have to start taking these chances.

As I’ve said many times before, they remind me of broken windscreen wipers.

One works and too often the other do not.
