BARLICK Fell Runners star Marc Hartley strode to success in the Burnley Lions 10K at Colne.

It proved a spectacular double for the club, who also claimed the runner’s up berth, Thomas Corrigan clocking 35 minutes and 11 seconds after Hartley had hit the tape in a winning time of 34mins 45secs.

Jonny McKenna, from Clayton Harriers, was third home, recording 35mins and 30secs, with three of his team mates also landing a top 10 finish.

First home behind McKenna, and in fifth spot, was Jordon McDonald, posting 36mins 53 secs while veteran Andrew Stubbs made it home in 36mins 59secs.

Harriers Jacob Watson was ninth, finishing in 38mins.

It proved a powerful turn out from the Harriers with another clutch of runners – Kevin Davis (M50) 38mins 38secs, Jonathan Pye 38 mins 42 secs, Richard Stevenson 38 mins 50 secs, and Matthew Duckworth 38mins 55secs all well inside the top 20 bracket.

There was a healthy field of 210 runners, and Frazer Durras, from Trawden AC, also claimed a top twenty finish, his 39mins 15secs landing him a very creditable 19th place.

First home for Blackburn Harriers was Gary Pearse, (M50), who landed 24th place in 39mins 51secs.

Daniel Plant, from Rossendale, also caught the eye in 39th with a time of 41mins 57secs.

There was a fine performance from Hyndburn Athletic Club’s vet Peter Sagar (M55) who made it home in 43mins and 2secs to claim 51st position.

Lisa Parker, from Accrington Road Runners, claimed 55th place, stopping the clock in 43mins 26secs.

Andrew Corbishley (M60) also ran with great credit, finishing in 68th position with a time of 44mins 12secs - while Adam Howard from Trawden AC finished one place behind in 44mins 15secs.

Another keen vet, Jeffrey Pickup from Clayton Harriers (M60), was home in 77th place, posting 45mins 15secs.

Ryan Atkins (M40), from Pendle AC, was just three places adrift with a time of 45mins 30secs.

There was a good run too from Nicola Nuttall, in 81st position, with the Trawden AC vet clocking 45mins 40secs.

Stephen White also ran well, with the M60 Clayton Harrier home in 46mins 20secs, while Accrington Road Runner Andrew Hollas finished inside the top 100.

Hollas (M45) claimed 95th place with his time of 47mins 11secs.

Irene Roche (M55) from Clayton Harriers also squeezed home in the top one hundred finshers, her 47mins 20secs saw her claim 98th position.

David Scott, (M70) from Clayton Harriers, was 109th in 49mins 6secs.

The Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix series continues with the Kelbrook Fell Race. The 3.4 mile race includes 700m of climbing and starts at 2pm from St Mary’s Church in Colne.

The event takes place on Saturday June 6, with the Weets Fell Race in Barnoldswick following on Saturday, June 13, with an 11am start. The series is made of 13 races throughout the summer.
