What would represent a successful summer for Blackburn Rovers in the transfer market?

IT’S going to be tough with the Financial Fair Play restrictions.

I expect us to lose some key players, Gestede and Rhodes almost certainly, so I’d like Gary to address the balance with some free transfers and ambitious, exciting loanees. A striker is a must, ideally with goalscoring credentials, and an experienced central midfielder. I’d also like an attacking right-back and some pace.

It will be difficult to build but Bowyer’s transfer dealings suggest we’ve got the best man to do it.

KEEPING hold of Gestede and Rhodes would be a major success but I assume it isn’t going to happen.

The Financial Fair Play regulations will dictate any developments but it looks like Gary Bowyer will have to continue his wheeling and dealing with the hope of uncovering some hidden gems.

This, of course, depends on moving on players who no longer fit into the manager’s plans, but this will be difficult. We continue to pay the price for past mistakes and I’m afraid there’s no hiding place or magic wand available.

I WOULD say seeing Rudy Gestede and Jordan Rhodes still at the club.

But should they then go at the far end of the transfer window, with no time to replace them, then that’d be a disaster.

If Gary Bowyer can get those who have no heart for battling, or playing, their way into the top level out of the club, and replace them with hungry, strong-minded players, then Rovers can at least start 2015-16 with a fresh slate and look forward to a fruitful season.
