RUDY Gestede and Jordan Rhodes scored second-half goals as Blackburn Rovers piled more misery on relegation-threatened Millwall.

After a drab first half, top-scorer Gestede netted his 20th goal of the season as he volleyed home expertly after Millwall failed to clear from a Craig Conway cross on 78 minutes.

And substitute Jordan Rhodes scored his 19th of the campaign after a neat through ball from strike-partner Gestede put the Scot through one-on-one with David Forde.

Magaye Gueye and Martyn Woolford had chances to put the Liions ahead in the first half but Jason Steele stood firm.

Stand-in captain Matt Kilgallon limped off after 37 minutes, leading to a debut for youngster Darragh Lenihan, who was impressive alongside Tommy Spurr.

Winger full debutant Paul Taylor could have put Rovers ahead on the stroke of half-time but his curling effort was pushed away by Forde.

Millwall came close to taking the lead straight after the re-start but Spurr was alert to clear off the line.

As the away side pushed for a vital winner, Rovers took advantage of the space and Gary Bowyer's prolific strike-force did it again.
