WASHINGTON: George Bush's administration is to slash a £45million security aid package for the Palestinian government.
The move was unveiled today by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who will visit the Middle East next week.
It aims to ensure the money goes to the moderate Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas - and none to the radical Hamas movement.
No details were given, but sources expect the package to be cut to £26m.
