A LOTTERY ticket worth nearly £1million and bought in Dunbartonshire is still unclaimed almost a month after the winning numbers were drawn.

If the ticketholder doesn't come forward soon, the £919,063 jackpot from the January 20 draw will be ploughed into good causes.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: "We're desperate to trace this ticketholder and unite them with their winnings.

"This really could be the best way to celebrate St Valentine's Day and show your partner how special they are.

"We have the champagne on ice and a dozen red roses at hand, as well as our fingers crossed, that they come forward to claim their win."

The winning ticket, with numbers 4, 7, 26, 28, 39 and 49, must be handed over by July 19, within 180 days of the draw.

If the lucky ticketholder claims the prize, he or she will follow a long line of winners from the Greater Glasgow area.

Single mums Jacqueline O'Connor, 26, and Kerri Cartwright, 28, both of Port Glasgow, were big Lotto cash winners.

Jacqueline scooped £212,850 earlier this month while Kerri collected £2.5m last month.

In May 2003, OAP George Oliver became the third millionaire from the Bishop- briggs/Kirkintilloch area in eight weeks when he shared a £3.4m jackpot with two others.

Also in 2003, John McGuinness, of Shotts, won £10m in a share of a £40m rollover and unemployed cleaner Rosemary Ferguson, of Kilmarnock, won £2.2m in September 2004.

Michelle and David Turnbull, also of Kilmarnock, were the biggest single winners in 2005 in Scotland, landing £4.5m. Six workers at the Morrison Bowmore whisky bottling plant in Springburn, Glasgow, won £15m in 2005, banking £2.5m each.

Six workers from a butcher's shop in Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire became Scotland's most successful syndicate after sharing £20m in 2000.
