BLACKBURN Rovers have signed Ipswich Town attacker Paul Taylor on loan until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, has been training with Rovers for the past two months after being told he had no future at Portman Road by Tractor Boys boss Mick McCarthy.

Taylor spent the first half of the season on loan at Rovers’ and Ipswich’s Championship rivals Rotherham United.

His last competitive appearance was on December 20 but he has declared himself fit for selection for the trip to Roses rivals Leeds United on Saturday.

Taylor, however, will not be eligible to play in the FA Cup quarter-final replay with Liverpool at Ewood Park on April 8 as he was signed after the initial Anfield tie between the teams.

Taylor said: “I just want to get started playing football because I’ve not played a competitive game for three months.

“Now I’ve got the opportunity to play football and express myself at a great club.”

Earlier today Rovers striker Luke Varney had his loan at Ipswich extended until the end of the campaign.

The emergency loan window closed at 5pm.
