DEFENDERS Alex Baptiste and Tommy Spurr insist Blackburn Rovers will have forgotten all about the disappointment of failing to beat basement boys Blackpool by the time they take to the field in tonight’s home clash with Norwich City.

Rovers are now 12 points behind fifth-placed Norwich and sixth-placed Wolves after they had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to the Seasiders on Saturday.

Right-back Baptiste said: “Obviously we were disappointed but we’re disappointed whenever we don’t win a home game – it was not just because it was Blackpool.

“Any home game you want to be taking three points and, as we want to get towards the play-offs, of course we were disappointed.

“We can still get into the play-offs. There are that many games this month and next month – we’re playing Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday – so we’ve still got a massive chance.

“But we need to start changing these one points into three points and if we do that we’ll not be a million miles off.

“We felt we deserved the three points but we just couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net.

“We’ve got to be optimistic because it’s a quick turnaround – three days and we’re playing again.

“We can’t dwell on the result, we just have to go again.

“Norwich are on a really good run and if we want to be in those play-off places with them we have to start winning more games.

“So let’s start with Norwich.”

Spurr was also remaining upbeat after Rovers missed the chance to make it five straight victories at Ewood Park for the first time since November 2009.

The left-back, who was making his first competitive appearance for the club in 10 months after injury, said: “We created enough chances to win the game and I don’t know how anyone watching could think otherwise.

“It was the kind of game you have to make easy for yourself because they are hard games. But the longer it stays 1-0, the longer they have a chance.

“It was disappointing because it was a game we wanted to win.

“But it’s another point and that is how we are going to look at it. The dressing room was disappointed, just as it was after the draw at Cardiff, because we have high expectations.

“But you have to put it to the side and look forward because that is the most important game now. We know we can beat any team.”

Spurr added: “We have to aim for the play-offs and I think it would be silly if we didn’t because it is still achievable.”
