JOHN Coleman is hoping for some home comforts, and a bumper crowd, when Accrington Stanley play hosts for the first time in 2015 tonight.

The Reds have not been in action at the Store First Stadium since the turn of the year, after the scheduled fixture against Bury was postponed due to a severely waterlogged pitch on January 9.

That has meant Stanley’s last four games have all been away - up to and including the Boxing Day trip to York City, and three defeats have led to them falling away from the play-off picture.

But Coleman hopes for a positive reaction to the break, on and off the pitch.

“Our home form’s been quite good and hopefully we can get our season back on track with a win.

“I hope the fans come and watch us now because they haven’t had the chance to for ages,” said the Stanley boss, who is eager to avenge back-to-back losses against Tranmere Rovers and AFC Wimbledon.

“Any game would have done me, but there’s added spice being Bury obviously.

“We do want to play quickly.

“It stops you mulling over things because you’ve got to prepare for a game quickly now. That’s probably the best for me, and I’d like to think it’s best for the players.”

Coleman has had few qualms about his side’s general performance at both Prenton Park and Kingsmeadow but feels lapses in concentration and individual errors let them down.

Indeed, their last clean sheet in League Two came in their 1-0 win at Mansfield in early October - 15 games ago.

“It’s the manner that we’re losing them which is frustrating to be honest,” said Coleman.

“I was looking for a response from my back four after the Tranmere debacle and it was a repeat performance.

“It’s frustrating and the goals we’re conceding are bordering on farcical.

“We’re worried about not scoring goals but until we address the problems at the back we’re always going to have to score two to hopefully win a game, and that shouldn’t be the case.

“We’ve got to do what I know we can do, we’ve got to start defending properly, and then our approach play has got to be better and obviously our conversion rate has got to be better.”
