BLACKBURN Rovers will not be pressured into selling want-away top-scorer Rudy Gestede.

The agent of the 12-goal striker yesterday implored Rovers to ‘find a solution’ after they rebuffed an initial offer from Crystal Palace believed to be £3.5m.

David Wancier also claimed that Gestede ‘really wants’ to sign for Palace in order to ‘achieve his ambition to play in the Premier League’.

But it is understood Rovers owners Venky’s have been unmoved by Wancier’s words.

They do not want to sell Gestede and will only do so if Palace meet the price tag placed on his head.

That is believed to be in the region of £5m.

Rovers signed Gestede for £200,000 from Cardiff City in January last year and since then he has scored 24 goals in 45 games.

But he has failed to find the net in his last four appearances and was pulled out of the squad for Saturday’s Championship encounter at Wigan Athletic after Palace firmed up their interest.

His agent yesterday insisted the Benin international, 26, remains ‘committed’ to Rovers.

But he also made it clear that Gestede would like the chance to move to Selhurst Park.

“Crystal Palace made an offer to Blackburn last week but it was rejected,” Wancier told The Guardian.

“Now the clubs have to discuss to try and find a solution.

“The player really wants to sign for Crystal Palace but is also committed to Blackburn.

“Rudy has been enjoying this season and just wants to play football.

“He just wants the club to consider this great opportunity for him to achieve his ambition to play in the Premier League.”

Gestede returned to training on Monday ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup clash at home to Swansea City.

Midfielder Jason Lowe says the ongoing speculation over his team-mate’s future will have no effect on how they will prepare for the fourth-round tie with the top-flight Swans.

“It’s something as players and team-mates you can’t really control,” said Lowe at yesterday’s Kick it Out event at his old primary school in Leigh, St Thomas.

“It happens, that’s the game, people get sold and people get bought, you just have to adapt and get on with it.

“Whatever team the gaffer picks on Saturday the job of those players will be to win the game and it’s as simple as that.

“Everybody knows what’s happening but we can’t affect what happening behind closed doors.

“We can only affect what happens on the field so that’s what we’ll do.”
