BEN Mee and Kieran Trippier are only four days away from the return to Manchester City they have been looking forward to all season – but their focus is only on Liverpool right now.

Mee and Trippier will return to their old club for the first time on December 28 Sunday when Burnley take on Manuel Pellegrini’s Premier League champions.

Both have admitted since the start of the season that it is a date on the calendar that will have special significance, after the duo moved to Turf Moor within a few days of each other in 2011.

But Burnley’s first task is a home game against Liverpool on Boxing Day and Mee says he must concentrate on for now on keeping Mario Balotelli and co quiet.

“It will be a big game but I’m not thinking about it yet,” he said of the City match.

“I’m looking forward to playing Liverpool and then after that we’ll think about it. It will come round quick.

“Liverpool first, obviously a massive game, and then City after that.”

Trippier said: “I’m looking forward to City, but it’s just like a normal game.

“I was there for a long time but I’m a Burnley player now and I’m just concentrating on getting the three points.”

“We’ve got to be prepared for Liverpool and hopefully trying to get the points.

“Every game in this league is a tough game.”

The Clarets are back in the relegation zone for Christmas Day, after defeat at Tottenham on Saturday, but Mee is not too concerned about that after only 17 games of the season.

“It doesn’t mean anything at the minute,” the left back said.

“We’re disappointed about it, but it’s a long season and nothing’s decided at the midway point.

“The next game’s at home and we want a good display again like we got against Southampton.

“Hopefully we can get a good three points against a good Liverpool side.”
