DANNY Ings said he was avoiding speculation about his future after Dutch giants Ajax became the latest club to be linked with a move for him.

With the 22-year-old out of contract in the summer his future remains uncertain and he has been linked with a number of clubs in recent weeks.

Unless he signs a new deal at Turf Moor Ings would be free to talk to European clubs about a move in January, but he is only able to talk to English clubs about a contract at the start of June.

If he was to agree a deal to move abroad at the end of the season then the Clarets would miss out on a fee for their star man, although they would get some compensation if he moved to a domestic rival at the end of his contract as he is under the age of 24.

Reports in the Sunday People claimed Ajax, Eredivisie champions 33 times, including all of the last four seasons, were monitoring the England Under 21 striker and were looking to open talks with him next month.

But Ings insisted he doesn’t read the transfer rumours and was focusing on the job in hand with Burnley.

“I don’t even read it,” he said of the latest round of speculation.

“I just concentrate on my job and I’m still contracted to Burnley and that’s the main thing.”

Ings signed a four-year deal when he joined the Clarets for a fee of around £1million from Bournemouth in August 2011.

He has never signed an extension to that contract penned when he was 19-years-old.

Despite having not put pen to paper on a new deal, both manager Sean Dyche and co-chairman Mike Garlick have recently insisted that talks between Ings, his representatives and the club were ongoing.

Dyche brushed off talk of an Ajax move for his leading goalscorer and said he was used to the speculation about Ings’ future.

"We've been writing stories about Danny Ings since I got here which was two years ago,” he said.

Ings made his 100th league appearance for Burnley in the 1-0 win over his home-town team Southampton on Saturday.

He has struck 31 times in those games but had found the back of the net just six times in his first two seasons with the club.

Last year he scored 21 Championship goals in 40 games to help Burnley to promotion, and he has four Premier League goals to his name this term, as well as a couple of England Under 21 goals, scored in the win over Portugal at Turf Moor.

It is reported that Ajax’s director of football, the former Arsenal winger Marc Overmars, has been impressed with Ings and believes he would fit nicely into their style of play.

The Amsterdam ArenA club are keen to tie Ings to a pre-contract agreement in January.

But he has also been linked with a host of domestic clubs, particularly Newcastle United.

However Burnley will be hoping that the continuing contract negotiations with Ings prove successful, and they can tie him down to a deal that would keep him at Turf Moor beyond the end of the season.
