LAST week’s win at Nottingham Forest was fantastic for Rovers, but I think they will find it tougher at home to Reading tomorrow.

I think Rovers are a better side away from home at the moment. When they play away the onus is on the home side to attack, and that leaves space for Rovers to utilise, and going forward they certainly have the players to punish teams who give them space.

But at Ewood teams often come to defend now, and the pressure is on Blackburn to break them down. If Rovers can score early or go in at half-time ahead, then it makes the world of difference. The longer it stays 0-0 the more the away side grows into confidence, and the harder it becomes to break them down.

I said last week that it was a good time to go to Forest and play them, with the run they were on, and so it proved. To take seven points from the three games last week was fantastic, and hopefully Rovers can follow that up with three more tomorrow.

It doesn’t look like anybody is going to run away with the Championship this season, as Leicester did last year, so I think the league is going to be very tight throughout. So anytime you can go on a run it does help you.

If Rovers can put a good run together now, like they did towards the end of last season, then it could propel them into the play-offs, and possibly beyond.

It’s very important to try to beat the teams around you and those who will be fighting for a play-off place as well. It can be like taking six points if you win these games, because you’ve got the three and stop a rival being able to take any.

We’ve got one of the best strike forces in the league and we need to use that and make the most of it. Both Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede have got goals in them, we know Jordan can score goals for fun but Rudy has been excellent as well.

I think Rudy playing helps Jordan in a way. When both are playing the defenders don’t know who to mark, going up against two centre half’s they can cause an awful lot of problems, and Rudy’s physical presence can help create space for Jordan. Rudy can also take the pressure of Jordan if he chips in with goals.
