AS a footballer you’ve got to make things happen. It sounds like Blackburn didn’t do that until the second half on Tuesday.

But what we need to see at Nottingham Forest tomorrow is them doing it from the start.

Sometimes it’s psychological when you’re playing a side like Birmingham who are struggling at the foot and have just lost their manager.

You can think, ‘they’re a poor side, we don’t have to do anything special as we’ll beat them anyway’.

But it doesn’t happen like that in football. It doesn’t just come naturally.

That’s why I want to see Blackburn taking the game to Forest from the off.

Don’t get me wrong, they are a good side, and the City Ground is always a tough place to go to.

But they’re not in the best of form and if we can get at them, and get a goal early doors, it could affect their confidence as, while they haven’t been losing many, they haven’t been winning many either.

But I still expect it to be a very tough game and that’s why I don’t think a point would be the worst result.

As they are one of the sides above us, a draw would mean us at least keeping in touch with them.

But, of course, three points would be better.

We’ll have a better chance of getting them now that we seem to be defending better.

Unfortunately while the clean sheets are coming, the goals, if not the chances, are not flowing as freely.

But I’m sure the goals will come again soon because I’ve got every faith in Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede.

Jordan is having a bit of a rough patch but he’s just got to keep calm and get through it.

I used to have spells in a season when I would go eight or nine weeks without a goal.

You just have to put it to the back of your mind and try not to snatch at shots and chances when they come your way.

All good strikers go through what Jordan is going through, you’ve just got to remain confident in your own ability and, as long as you keep getting in the right positions, the goals will come.
