RIBBLESDALE Youth League Under 12s won the the presitgious LCB Alan Wright Trophy after a terrific display to beat Lancashire County League.

Held at Euxton Cricket Club, Ribblesdale Youth League won the toss and elected to bat with a solid start between Harry Caton and Dan Barber who was the first to fall for 17 runs with the score on 32.

Dan Wilson joined Caton and they batted very well against a strong bowling attack with a stand of 83 taking the score to 115 for the second wicket.

Wilson achieved a well earned 54 off 87 balls with the innings being held together by a determined Caton who reached 40 from 94 balls. The innings closed on 136 for 3 off the allocated 40 overs.

Lancashire County League started brightly in the run chase but lost wickets at regular intervals after good bowling from Joseph Ince 2-17 and Owen Elwood 4 for 15. The main resistance came for Lancashire batsman Doyle who opened the batting and was last man out for 52.

Valuable support came from Feakes with a partnership of 49 fro the seventh wicket before some fine bowling from Dan Barber of 3 for 9 off 4 overs closed the inning on 106.

Coach Jason Rawson said: “We are delighted with the efforts of the team who have performed way beyond our expectation to reach and win the final of such a prestigious trophy.

“We said at the start when the team first met that it was all about enjoying the games and see where we go.

“They quickly became great friends and this showed with a team effort.

“Special thanks must go to all who gave their time to support the team and the parents for running the lads around.”
