SEAN Dyche will continue to let his players decide among themselves who should take penalties – despite Scott Arfield’s late miss at Selhurst Park last week.

Arfield saw his spot-kick saved by Julian Speroni with seven minutes to go against Crystal Palace as the Clarets missed the chance to secure a first win of the season.

The Scottish wide-man wanted to take the penalty after Lukas Jutkiewicz had been hauled down in the box. “You’ve got to look at the people who want to take them,” said Dyche.

“On this occasion it was Scotty; you can tell from his whole body language he was desperate to take it.

“He struck it very well, the keeper made a good save, it happens.

“Most of the squad practice penalties in training, including Arfield, and they also take them in situations designed to add pressure.

“We have forfeits at the end of every game [in training] and often it is decided on penalties so there is natural practice as well as individual practice,” added Dyche.

“That’s something the players are diligent about, the extra work they do.

“We allow freedom at the end of the training, we don’t overwork them, to allow them that time to do what they deem appropriate and there’s plenty of people who go out
