DARTS fans in Nelson will have the chance to take to the oche and go head-to-head with a former world darts champion this week.

Mark Webster, the BDO World Champion in 2008, will be appearing at Dewhurst Decorating Supplies on Scotland Road, Nelson on Thursday, August 28.

Dewhurst Decorating Supplies customers and staff will be invited to take on the popular Welshman in a special challenge in which Webster will be given six darts to better his opponent’s score with nine.

The event is one of a number organised by leading trade paint manufacturer Leyland Paints which will see Webster visit a number of their key stockists around the UK.

“It’s always a very enjoyable experience to take on members of the public and the Leyland Paints Nine Dart Challenge is a fantastic format,” said Webster, who reached the quarter-finals of the PDC World Championship last Christmas.

“Whenever we do these events we always get some excellent players attend and I’m sure that will be no different in Nelson.”

Webster, who will be appearing at Dewhurst Decorating Supplies between 10am and 2pm, forms part of an all-star darting Team-Leyland.

Current world champion Michael van Gerwen and world number four Simon Whitlock are also sponsored by Leyland Paints.

“We are firmly at the heart of darts now and it’s fantastic to offer both Leyland Trade users and some of our key stockists the opportunity to go head-to-head with a former world darts champion,” said Vicky Jones, Leyland Paints’ stockist brand marketing manager.

“I’m sure it will be a fantastic day and Mark will have to be at his very best to see off the challenge of his opponents on the day.”
