Snap Shots has been mixing it in some good company and is a worthy top weight in the 21 Engineer Regiment Sapper Conditions Stakes at Ripon.

Tom Dascombe clearly thinks plenty of this Kodiac colt as after winning on his debut at Haydock, he was immediately pitched into battle in the Norfolk Stakes at York, where he finished a creditable fourth behind Baitha Alga.

Snap Shots then lined up in a Listed heat at Sandown, finishing behind two decent yardsticks in Beacon and Mukhmal after taking a noticeably keen grip in the early exchanges as he appears to be a horse who likes to do it from the front.

Sent to Bath, Snap Shots finally got his head back in front in a two-horse race, although the task was not as easy as it sounds as the pair went toe to toe all the way before Dascombe's charge finally prevailed by a length.

His two wins mean he has to concede weight all round but he has earned those penalties and is clearly a useful beast.

Truancy can bring up his four-timer in the attheraces.com City of Ripon Stakes.

The three-year-old has been on a steep upward curve in recent weeks, kicking off with a win at Doncaster in June before going on to further glory when defying a 4lb rise at Epsom in July.

Karl Burke then sent him to Ripon where Truancy again shrugged off a further 2lb to see off Stanarley Pic by a length in what was admittedly quite an average affair.

That said, he appeared to win with a little in hand in what was a career-best effort, a fact which has not escaped the handicapper either.

A 6lb rise is not ideal but Truancy seems to have found his stride now and might have a bit more to give.

Duke Cosimo cost a very reasonable 21,000 guineas at the sales last autumn and has repaid a chunk of that price tag with two wins in five starts for David Barron this season.

Striking off a mark of 78 at Doncaster in May, he lines up on 86 after recently adding another victory at Ripon in what is always a competitive consolation event for the Great St Wilfrid handicap.

He made the most of a handy low draw, repelling Red Refraction by a short head.

Duke Cosimo has gone up a further 3lb for that win but is the one to watch in Epsom's John Akehurst Handicap as he gears up for a possible Ayr Gold Cup challenge.

Royal Connection hit the bar at Epsom back in July but can enjoy her moment in the sun in the Terry Mills Handicap.

She was just edged out in the final strides over seven furlongs that day but can go one place better over the same distance this time.

Freemason was well beaten at Newmarket on his seasonal bow but should have improved for that outing ahead of Wolverhampton's Stay At The Wolverhampton Holiday Inn Maiden Stakes.

Questioning also holds logical claims for the in-form John Ferguson operation when in the Santander Novices' Hurdle Race at Sedgefield.
