BURNLEY United continued there good start to the season with a 2-1 victory over Fleetwood Hesketh.

United remain among the early season pace setters as goals from Steve Riley and Danny Russell secured all three points against Hesketh who replied through Steve Hoy.

Free-scoring United, fourth in the Premier Division, have already bagged 11 goals in their opening three games; losing 5-3 to Blackpool Wren Rovers last weekend before hitting back too beat Eagley 6-3 in midweek where Oliver Wood scored a hat-trick.

Richard McKenna scored twice as Longridge Town won 7-2 at Vickerstown to keep up their unbeaten Premier League campaign.

After a goalless first half, Town took the lead two minutes after the restart thanks to a 1-0 Stuart Gray goal.

Two goals in four minutes by McKenna just after the hour mark put Longridge fully in control.

Paul Brown made it 4-0 on 72 minutes with Jonty McDonald adding a fifth five minuted later.

Danny Cummings pulled one back for the hosts nine minutes from time before Rick Coar made it 6-1.

A last minute own goal gave Town a 7-1 lead before Sean Patterson converted an injury time penalty for Vickerstown.

Longridge had drawn their two opening games of the season.

Blackpool Wren Rovers are the early season leaders having won all three of the opening matches including a narrow 1-0 win at Coppull on Saturday.

In Division One, Mill Hill St Peter’s jumped up to sixth place thanks to a 3-1 win at Dalton United, their first victory of the season.

Victory for the Saints saw them bounce back from their 3-0 midweek defeat at East Lancs rivals Hurst Green last Tuesday where Alan Coar scored a superb hat-trick.

Green, without a game at the weekend, are ninth having won one and lost one of their opening two games.

Fulwood Arms and Burscough Rich lead the way in the early stages, both with a 100 per cent record after three matches.

Haslingden St Marys are third in Division Two after a comprehensive 4-1 win against Furness Rovers.

Mike Saunders bagged a brace with Scott Wiley and Toby Wilkinson also getting on the scoresheet.

Todmorden Borough, who didn’t play at the weekend are 10th after their two games which included a 5-0 midweek defeat to the Saints.

Hurst Green Reserves remain unbeaten unbeaten in Division One Reserves after a 2-2 draw with Charnock Richard Reserves.

Sam Whittaker and Danny Walker scored for Green who are second after two games.

And Burnley United Reserves lead the way at the top of Division Two Reserves as Luke Riley scored a stunning double hat-trick in the 6-1 win at Turton Reserves.

It made it two wins out of two for United, having won 6-1 against Stoneclough Reserves on the opening day of the season where Riley bagged a brace. Mill Hill St Peters, whose game against Ladybridge Reserves was postponed on Saturday, won 5-2 at Croston Sports Reserves on their opening game.
