With only two games to play in Divisions Three and Four of the Great Harwood and District Bowling League, Lower Darwen B sealed promotion from Division Four with a comfortable away win at Parker Street.

Oakhill need three points to be sure of joining them in Division Three where East Lancashire and Sabden Red will have to wait as they can still be caught mathematically.

But with an 18-point gap over Burnley Rd A, they are highly unlikely to slip up.

Meanwhile, the Local Herald Hyndburn and District Bowling League’s First and Second Division Finals day will take place at the end of this month.

The event will be held at the Grange Bowling Club on Sunday, August 31, with a 12.30pm start.

When the action gets underway Globe A, Sydney St, Rushton St E and Burnley Rd C will battle it out for glory.

In the Third and Fourth Division finals day, Burnley Rd B, Grange C, Ribblesdale C and Gatty Park will compete for the honours at Peel Park the following week, Sunday, September 7, again with a 12.30pm start.

Burnley Rd B and Tinker & Budget have become the first sides to win promotion this season.

Burnley Road claimed promotion from Division Three after impressing in the league last week, while Tinker & Budget also shone to go up from Division Four.

But there was bad news for Whalley A in Division One.

They have found life in the top flight tough in their first season and have been relegated.
