Since the clubhouse and court refurbishment of Burnley Tennis Club with funding from Sport England and the Trusthouse Foundation, the club has opened its doors to various community projects which make use of the facilities during the day.

In recognition of this the club was delighted when two committee members Alison Padgett and Donna Livesey were honoured to be invited to the Queen’s garden party at Buckingham Palace.

Padgett said: “It was a wonderful, once in a lifetime experience, and we were honoured to represent the club and appreciated the recognition for all the hard work by the committee to make the club a viable community hub as well as improving the facilities for members and the community.”

The club was also nominated by Burnley Council for community club of the year at an awards night, even though the club didn’t win the award they were shortlisted and presented with a highly commended award, everyone who attended had a great night Meanwhile, Burnley Tennis Club will be running a number of free Tennis Taster sessions throughout September.

The club is welcoming females above the age of 13 to get involved in our Whacky Wednesdays The sessions will be on Wednesdays September 3, 10, 17 and 24 and all session will run between 6.30pm and 8pm at Burnley Tennis Club.

Results Round up Burnley Tennis Club Open teams were back in action and the Open A team travelled to Whalley to what has always been a touch place to pick up points.

Burnley came away with a fantastic 4-1 win, Burnley B welcomed Blackburn Northern B to Burnley, another tough match but another fine 3-2 for Burnley B.

Burnley C team were also at home against Whalley B, a win for Burnley would move them above Whalley B into second place, Burnley C proved far to strong for Whalley winning the match 5-0.

Burnley D played Burnley E, Burnley D in good form beat a spirited Burnley E team 5-0.
