STEVE Almond will face Wayne Cotterill in the Fosters Golden Cue small table final after edging passed Peter Doyle in their semi final clash.

Doyle of Colne Snooker Club had a great chance to book a place in the final after leading leading 2-1 in the best of five frames when he missed a greatn off the spot.

Almond, who plays for Clitheroe RBL, held his nerve to clear up to level the match at 2-2 before clinched the decisive frame with relative ease.

The final will take place at Ighten Leigh Social Club on Sunday at 12.30pm where he will face St Andrews’ man Cotterill who beat former winner James Waddginton.

Cotterill tuned up for the tie with a recent 147 break and proved too strong for the 2010 champion.

“The game was a lot closer than the scoreline," said organiser Neil McGovern. “Jimmy started off with a 38 break in the first frame, but he just didn't take his chances after that.”
