FAITH Pitman will compete for the bronze medal in the repechage competition this evening after defeating Marcon Bezzina of Malta.

The Todmorden judoka’s gold medal hopes in the women’s judo were shattered this morning after losing to Canadian Beatrice Valois Fortier to a yuko throw.

But the West Essex Judo Club member, competing in the -63kg category, has a chance of a medal – although not the major medal she had been hoping for.

Pitman, a third dan, takes on Katharina Haeker of Australia at 6pm.
