Sales up as Blackburn Rovers home shirt hits the stores

Lancashire Telegraph: Ewood Park staff Courtney Talbot, Kirsty Logan and Jenna Parkinson model the new kit Ewood Park staff Courtney Talbot, Kirsty Logan and Jenna Parkinson model the new kit

SALES were up when the new Blackburn Rovers home shirt hit the shops for the first time yesterday.

Supporters made their way to the club stores at Ewood Park and in Blackburn town centre to get their hands on the shirt.

And Rovers head of commercial and marketing Greg Coar was delighted by the response.

He said: “Sales of the home kit have been extremely pleasing.

“It is actually the best opening day performance for six years which is very good news.

“On Thursday we are also giving supporters the opportunity to meet first-team stars Jordan Rhodes, Tom Cairney and Craig Conway at the Roverstore at Ewood Park.”

The trio will show off the new shirt at the club shop, situated outside the ground, from 1pm.

The new shirt is the first Rovers home shirt to feature a Cambridge blue half since the 1991/92 season when Kenny Dalglish’s team won promotion to the Premier League with a Wembley play-off final win over Leicester City.

Rovers did, however, wear a one-off kit featuring the paler blue half for the 1-0 home victory over Wolves on Saturday, November 18, 2000, to celebrate the club’s 125th anniversary.

The new shirt is a nod back to the home shirt worn by the club in its early years.

Rovers’ new away shirt – the design for which has yet to be released – goes on sale on Thursday, July 31.

lets see if we can engage in a half intelligent debate about football, seen that Ings has come out and said that is happy at the turf, in the Mirror this morning, which is positive for you chaps, and you are trying to tie your keeper to another deal. So as you see it where is the squad lacking, and how many extra bodies do you think you guys will need to get in to at least battle the seemingly inevitable season long relegation scrap??? Now regarding your "What a mess" comment, Best opening day sales for 6 years, hardly a mess, unless you splurged when viewing the photo above our rover's hotties ;)

Its a shocking kit as many Blackburn Rovers fans have attested themselves. A few shirt sales isnt going to make much of a dent in your £60m debt. Will save the splurging until FFP starts hitting the news.

Personally I don't like the sponsor however I like the fact we are reverting back to the good old days with the lighter blue. It seems the club is trying to right the wrongs of the past. There has been many, however I like the direction we are going, from a more settled squad, the spirit amongst the players and fans, the general optimism around the place. Time will tell but I for one am a happy rover

I don't like the sponsor, full stop. I'm sure there would have been other offers that would make a better statement our club badly needs. I do however like the light blue. Changes always devide people, but that's everybody's prerogative to disagree. In the end we all want the same result. Our club promoted and to be run correctly

the kit is fine - not overly bothered about the sponsor - but hey ho!

talking about what a mess - isn't it correct that your bunch of clowns cannot sell replica shirts to children? what a mess! doesn't promoting internet gambling potentially lead to serious addiction and the breakdown of the family unit. then again you are a dingle and the only family unit you have is a cuddle and the rest with your sister.

The real irony in all of this is that the more that negative comments rain down from the BFC 'faithful' (and any other), could well incite many a supporter who is unsure, or even dead set against it to purchase just for the hell of it. And in turn give a big upturned digit to our friends down the M65!

Lets be honest does the logo (as poor as it is being see) really affect our coming season? And ethically would anyone really rather have a betting syndicate and/or money loan shark comp emblazened on their chest?
Or even one our fine 'ethical' institutional banks (who are largely responsible for eveyones current financial woes) ???

Roll on the new season.

You are clearly in need of cuddle... just wonder what dark and warped thing has happened to you that you find the potential misfortune of another club so joyful, did they give you an Alan Shearer action figure and ask you to point out where a nasty man touched you?????, and we are all aware we could be stung by FFP, but to what scale who knows you definitely don't!!! neither do I....

It's quite clear that you aren't allowed a sense of humour if you are a Rovers fan, the negative brigade will have your balls in a clamp if you dare to actually smile at anything that happens at Ewood.

It's quite amusing in a depressing way;

- Airliner shot down over Ukraine.
- Putin rattling his Sabre, pointing it at all the old Communist Bloc countries, basically saying "You are next".
- Israel sends troops into Gaza.
- Hamas won't rest until every living Israeli has been wiped off the face of the Earth.
- Maniac Muslims looking to wipe out Western civilisation and impose dark ages level religious stupidity on the entire world.

Any of the above could instigate WW3.

But the most important issue exorcising the minds of the Blackburn Rovers Negative Brigade is a video of a new football shirt and the logo of our new shirt sponsors.

YCMIU. if you tried. Would probably make a great comedy sketch on Monty Python.

Mind you the rank stupidity of it all would be an insult to Monty Python.

I was dithering over buying a new shirt this season but because of all the negative crap I have read so far I am definitely going to buy one just to stick two fingers up to the remnants of BRAG who still can't let go of the past.

And I will do something I don't normally do, I will definitely consider buying the away strip when that comes out.
It's quite clear that you aren't allowed a sense of humour if you are a Rovers fan, the negative brigade will have your balls in a clamp if you dare to actually smile at anything that happens at Ewood. It's quite amusing in a depressing way; - Airliner shot down over Ukraine. Slagging off Rovers fans again, i see.

You cant post anything with out jabbing Rovets fans with a sh!try stick every now and again.

As for your opening political analysis, what utter reactionary brainwashed Daily Mail nonsense.

Big bad Putin, the Palestinians deserve everything they gate, blame the Muslims....and you have the jaw dropping temerity to blame anyone that criticised the Venkys as "racists".

You're worse than that Welsh windbag that ranted and slagged off the latest shirt and then posted a few hours later after he's calmed down that it was all a big joke and an experiment in showing his girlfriend what trolling is. Sad tw@t.

I suppose that's the thing with design, its down to each individual whether they like it or not... In regards to how much work went into it, how can you know... Having worked doing Packaging design and moving into digital design I can not tell how many times I have had to create piece of work which personally thought wasn't the best option, but those paying the bills/wages etc ultimately get the final word.... still hard work was put in to developing the design to the brief and guidance given.... Horfor coses and all that ;)

It is very, very worrying when someone who portrays themself as a 'thinking individual' dismisses with much disdain the extremely sad and destructive happenings epidemic around the globe, in the guise of it being 'sensationalism'! This in direct reflection against a somethng and nothing happening in a small corner of EL.

I am pretty sure that if you were in any way associated with anyone who was unfortnate enough to be on that Malaysian flight, you would (I would hope) think very very differently).

I'll help you out brother.
I'm more than happy with the squad.
We've signed 5 or 6 half decent Championship players and two ex-Prem players who have played 4 times between them in the last 2 seasons.
Keep it quiet, but I'm really happy with the transfer dealings,i think I may have got away with it.
They all seem to be talking them up as if we've signed Barcelona.I can't really believe my luck,i thought they'd be outside my door with burning torches.
Anyway,must dash,plane to catch.

You are wrong, Nick. He is was wasting his time. Not any more. I've converted, Rovers F.C. came to my damp bedsit in Padiham and made me an offer i couldn't refuse, like in the film, The Godfather.

Then i visited his website: ewoodpark.jimdo.com

and i was instantly hooked.

B*rnley are the sloppy seconds of East Lancashire football.

Infact, we should call B*rnley fans "Sloppies" from now on.

Rovers for ever.
And of course you are the Pluckers or a word sounding very similar. But you are a total tit.

Nigel seemed happy enough with his purchase though. He left with a big smile on his face and commented that he couldn't wait to see some of the players in action - on the football field that is.

It's quite amusing in a depressing way;

Great Post! I'm with you defo having Home and Away top this season.... I'm hoping someone in the marketing department has thought about a video called "#BirdysPlayingAway"

, if they haven't you can have that one for free... :-D
mmm, I wouldn't go that far..... :-)

lets see if we can engage in a half intelligent debate about football, seen that Ings has come out and said that is happy at the turf, in the Mirror this morning, which is positive for you chaps, and you are trying to tie your keeper to another deal.

Sad tw@t.
yawn.

If not, words fail me.
Oh shut up you palpitating wind bag.

I can hear your quivering, sanctimonious indignation from here.

You are either completely brain washed, a racist or just thick.

You don't seem to care about the democratically elected Ukrainian government that was over thrown in a murderous putch which was backed by the west or the on going destruction of eastern Ukraine and the war crimes against the people there by the illegal regime in Kiev.

Neither do you care about the genocidal ethnic cleansing of Palestine by the racist, apartheid, fascist, client, colonial settler state of Israel. 100,000 people marched on London yesterday in protest at the disgraceful imperialist coverage of that conflict and the dehumanizing g of the Palestinians and complete silence from the BBC in its white wash of the march.

You believe, whether you realise it or not that Arab blood is not ad valuable as Jewish blood.

Also, you know nothing of the airliner that was shot down over Ukraine but no doubt blame Putin and Russia when no evidence whatsoever had been presented that Putin either gave the order or that the Russians or anti Kiev forces did it. However, that did not stop the gutter corporate stooges in the English media as any glance at the weekends publishing and broadcasting 'news' coverage demonstrates.

Your arrogant assumption that anyone who does not follow your propaganda is somehow lacking in moral/intellectual/p
olitical integrity is devoid typical of the racism which permeated do mch of what you wrote.
