RUSS Thompson’s outing on last weekend’s Nicky Grist Stages was a short one.
The Clitheroe rally driver arrived in Mid-Wales leading the BTRDA Championship in his Mitsubishi Evo 9. However, Thompson and co-driver Andy Murphy lasted only until the second stage, when the notorious Epynt Army Range roads caught out the pair, when they hit a bridge and were forced to retire on the spot.
As a result, Thompson has slipped down to third in the driver standings.
