NOTHING less than a perfect day will be good enough for Steve Entwistle when he contests the Ross Traders Historic this weekend.

The Rishton-based rallyman leads the HRCR Clubmans Championship by 32 points going into round 7, but Entwistle isn’t being complacent.

“At this stage of the series, 32 points doesn’t mean a lot, but a top three result this weekend, with no errors, does,” said Entwistle (right).

“We have performed well on the special tests, but thrown away too many places on the regularities with small errors that have cost us badly.

“I would have been happier if the margin had been higher, but there’s nothing we can do about that now. We have to put that behind us and go for an error-free day on Saturday.”

Entwistle and navigator Bob Hargreaves have been in stunning form on the tests, where the outright speed of the Orangebox Mini have been a revelation.

“We’ve been consistently in the top three all season, thanks in the main to the fantastic performance of the 1293cc engine, built specially by Mini Sport of Padiham,” he added.

“If we can replicate that form in the regularities, then we’ll be definite contenders to win the championship.”
