THE organiser of a charity rounders rally wants to make it annual event – and also set her sights on forming a league in the borough.

Sarah Harwood was delighted to see 10 teams turn out at AFC Darwen’s WEC Anchor Ground for the tournament held to raise funds for Cash for Kids charity.

The all-day event including mixed teams which brought together parents and children, family and friends.

“It was another great day and I was pleased that saw many teams took part,” said Harwood who also plays rounders for Blackburn Community Sports Club.

“We want this to become an annual event and everyone who took said they really enjoy it would take part again.”

Teams were split in to two groups with the winners and runners-up progessing to the knockout stages.

Dads and Lads – which included Lee and Josh Cosgrove, Callum and Keith Manifold, Jack and Mick Robinson and Daniel and Jason Cott and Jamie Edwards – were winners with Burnley Rounders Club Blue runners-up.

Harwood, who thanked Speciality Coatings for their £100 donation, is now hoping to set up a mixed league in the area.

“I would love to set up a mixed rounders league in the area and that is something I will be working on to try and achieve.”
