Roefield Leisure Centre launches its summer playscheme soon – and it will be based on the major sporting events of the coming months.

The Roefieldwealth Games will be inspired by the Commonwealth Games that will take place in Glasgow last this month.

The event will include an opening and closing ceremony, triathlon, lawn bowls and archery plus numerous other activities.

The European Athletics Championship along with the Community Shield and Test Cricket will also appear prominently during some weeks. All these together with climbing, swimming, archery, food crafts, arts and crafts, zorbing, dance mats and gymnasium and other favourites such as dodgeball, basketball, tag rugby, badminton and cricket.

And new for this year are boot camps, balloon modelling, mythbusters, body combat and box fit – all under the supervision of fully qualified coaches and instructors.

The dates for the holiday scheme are Thursday, July 24 until Tuesday, September 2 (except for bank holiday Monday, August 25) and run from 9am-5pm or extended hours 8am-6pm.

The cost is £15 per day or £20 for extended hours and there is a 10 per cent discount for siblings and a 10 per cent discount is you book before Sunday, July 13.

Childcare vouchers are also accepted. Pre-booked lunches are available at £3 or bring your own packed lunch.

Early booking is advisable on this increasingly popular playscheme.
