Casterton Primary School have earned the right to represent Lancashire in the Year 6 Northern Counties finals to be at Harrogate Cricket Ground next week.

The squad of nine boys, ranging from years five to six, won their borough competition on the at Burnley CC, then, a week later, had to play the winners of the Lowerhouse Cricket Club competition to earn the right to play at the Lancashire Schools Cricket competition, which was held at the Northern Cricket Ground in Crosby last Thursday.

The boys did fantastically well, reaching the final out of 32 teams.

The top two teams however earned the right to represent the County in the Northern Area finals.

Mr Dutton, Sports Coach for the school, said: “The boys were an absolute credit to the school in not only the way in which they played, but the way they encouraged and supported each other throughout every game.

“It is a fantastic achievement for the school to reach such a stage and the children are extremely excited for the next competition.”
