Asteroidea is bred to win Classics but her career can finally get off the mark in Ripon's Follow AtTheRaces On Twitter Handicap on Monday.

The three-year-old is a daughter of the brilliant Sea The Stars, who is really making his mark as a stallion this year, and 1000 Guineas winner Speciosa.

Speciosa was famously trained by Pam Sly, who also bred and owns Asteroidea, so it will be in her best interests that the filly gets off the mark as soon as possible.

She cut little ice in two maidens over a mile late last season but those were decent events, won by Godolphin's Gold Trail and the subsequent Oaks heroine Taghrooda.

Stepped up in trip this year she has shaped much better, firstly over 10 furlongs when second to the progressive Roseburg at 100/1.

She went on to prove that was no fluke when third of five at Doncaster.

Beaten just over five lengths, the winner, Forever Now, is part of John Gosden's St Leger squad so there was no disgrace at all in that performance.

The runner-up was second off a mark of 87 the other day, so off just 74 Asteroidea must take all the beating.

Lady Cecil's Sunrise Star finally opened her account first time out this season and can follow up in the Armstrong Memorial Handicap.

She improved with racing last season in three maidens, yet as she was beaten at short odds a couple of times some felt she had questions to answer on her reappearance at Bath.

Sent off long odds-on in a weak race, she absolutely bolted up by eight lengths and while her rating entitled her to win as she did, her confidence will have been given a nice boost.

This is a decent little contest but Sunrise Star might lead them a merry dance.

Richard Hannon's Mumford looked to be crying out for a sixth furlong last time out and gets it in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes at Windsor.

Fourth on his debut at Leicester over six, he was dropped to the minimum distance for what was an above-average contest at Chester, won by RIchard Fahey's Steve Prescott.

The course may not have suited, but he was run off his feet before charging home late to snatch second.

Hannon had him entered up everywhere this week but has decided to send him to his happy hunting ground.

Swiss Kiss is not one of John Gosden's stable stars but she is related to some classy performers.

It will be imperative for her breeders, the Lordship Stud, that she wins a race so the fact Gosden is running her in the Happy Birthday Miss Katrina Thomas Maiden Fillies' Stakes rather than a handicap off 73 is noteworthy.

Donald McCain has branched out into the two-year-old division and his Monksford Lady made a pleasing debut at Carlisle recently.

Drawn wide, she briefly looked a threat before her effort flattened out, although she looked like the run would do her the world of good physically and mentally.

The form is decent as the third, Mrs Biggs, won next time and Monksford Lady was just over three lengths back in fifth.

She should go well in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes at Ayr.

The jumping action comes from Newton Abbot, where the Paul Nicholls-trained Vesperal Dream can get off the mark over fences in the Happy 65th Birthday Paddy Harman Beginners' Chase.
