ALEX Bagnall was jumping for joy after returning from a top international gymnastics competition as a medal winner.

The 13-year-old was a member of the Jump UK Trampoline and Gymnastics Club that took part in the Baltic Cup held in Germany.

Alex, a pupil at Our Lady and St John Catholic College, travelled with the squad to compete in the trampoline event held in Sorup The competition, also known as the Ostseepokal International Cup, attracted gymnasts from the host country, Netherlands, Austria and Great Britain.

And for Alex and one of her Jump UK team-mates, it proved to be a successful leap in to Europe.

For Alex and Morgan Moore reached their respective finals with Alex finishing a magnificent second place in the girls group while Morgan was placed fifth.

It was the third International event Alex has participated in but is her first international podium place – having previously finished fourth and sixth.

Morgan and Alex also competed in the Synchronised events finishing in 10th place Alex has been trampolining for four years – having started through the school/club links.

In 2013, she qualified through the National circuit for the British Championships and she currently trains three times weekly.

However, this is due to change as the club is in the process of moving into their permanent facility for gymnastics and trampolining and will be able to provide more available times.

This follows a successful year for the gymnasts and the club being Lancashire’s only representatives competing at National galas qualifying to retain National status.
