n JUNE 29, 2004 ANGELA Preedy won the Lancashire Target Archery title thanks to a little help from her Eurpean champion sister and world’s best brother-in-law!

For Angela kept it in the family by following in the footsteps of Helen and husband Paul – who, at the time, was the current world field archery champion – by winning some archery silverware of her own.

It was no mean feat for the civil servant who only took up the sport two years ago.

But under the watchful eye of Helen, a British and European champion and Paul, Angela won gold in the Lancashire finals which were held in Orrell.

But it wasn’t all sibling harmony as Angela topped scored with 915 points to win the Lancashire Championship to take the county title of her sister.

Angela was a member of Oakleaf Bowmen based in Read – a club set up by Paul a few years previous.

n june 28, 2000 THE true essence of sport was captured when 2,000 youngsters took part in the Lancashire Youth Games.

A record number of young athletes turned out at Witton Park with 14 boroughs across the county entering more teams than ever before.

And whether it was to complete to win or just to enjoy the occassion, fun was the main ingredient of the day.

Graeme Souness, the then Blackburn Rovers manager, and GB hockey player Val Robinson officially opened the Games.
