PAULA Swinscoe celebrated her third podium finish on the trot after the Withnell co-driver, together with Jock Armstrong, took third place in last weekend’s Scottish Rally, despite a rally of problems.

The pair had earlier claimed podium finishes on the Border Counties and Granite City rallies in the ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championships in their Class 12 Subaru Impreza.

And the duo recovered from the worst possible start when their engine cut shortly into stage one, forcing a bump start.

Engine problems continues to blight the pair on the early stages prompting a spin on stage two after which they sat sixth, more than a minute behind the leaders having also overcome overheating problems.

The duo climbed a place in the super special stage before arriving at service where the engine was fixed although the pair still battled overheating issues.

Nonetheless they continued to improve and climbed to third ahead of the final stage.

That was a position they consolidated despite having to change a flat tyre on the start line of the final stage.
