BURNLEY have signed Scotland goalkeeper Matthew Gilks on a free, following the end of his Blackpool contract.

The 32-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal and will join Tom Heaton, Alex Cisak and young Australian Daniel Nizic in the goalkeeping ranks.

Gilks began his career with hometown club Rochdale, where he made almost 200 appearances before joining Norwich City in 2007.

He moved back to the north west within 12 months, joining Blackpool.

Gilks made his debut for the Tangerines in January 2009 and went on to help the club achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2010.

He made his international debut for Scotland in 2012.
