The Lancashire Amateur League (LAL) in collaboration with the Bolton and Bury Junior Football League (BBJFL) and the Lancashire Football Association (LFA) are looking to start a competition where the age limit is 21.
This will allow teams at U18 to stay together for up to three years before going into open age football.
The LAL is an adult Saturday League and will continue to organise Saturday football, but to facilitate the transition, games will be organised both am and pm if required.
This acknowledges that availability of grounds with suitable facilities varies across the region and allows teams up to three years to meet the LAL ground criteria before going into open age football.
John Treacy (john.treacy@lancashirefa.com) and Shaun Burke (shaun.burke@lancashirefa.com) at the LFA can be contacted for information about grants that may be available to promote the establishment of the league.
Information about the LAL can be found on the website (www.lancsam.co.uk) or by contacting the League Secretary Peter Duffy (lal.secretary@gmail.com) or League Chairman Adrian Shuttleworth (shuttleworthadrian@gmail.com).
