BLACKBURN Subscription Bowling Green Club will be holding a Charity Open Doubles competition later this month.

The Shear Bank Road club welcomes pairs from across the area to take part in an event in aid of the Motor Neurone Association.

The competition is in memory of Joan Smith – a well known member of the bowling fraternity, and well loved and respected by her fellow club members.

Joan sadly passed away earlier in the year after losing her brave battle against the disease for which there is no cure at the moment.

The competition will be held on Sunday, June 29 and will start at 10.30am and will be a round robin format.

Prize money donated by club members and all other monies collected on the day will be donated to the Motor Neurone Association.

Anyone who is interested in taking part or would like to make a donation should write to Mrs D Kenyon, 45 Moorland Road, Langho, Blackburn, BB6 8HA.

Refreshments will be available on the day and a raffle will be held.

Spectators are more than welcome to attend.
