YOUNG teams took part in a fair play competiton were respect and not results was the order of the day.

Referees deducted points for any problems from players, parents or coaches at the mini tournament held at Heyhead Park, Brierfield.

Teams that took part were Junior Gardners, Pendle Forest and Brierfield Celtic.

“For once who won didn't matter as all players were judged on their behaviour, skill and fair play,” said Brierfield Celtic secretary Dave Johnson. “We had a very enjoyable afternoon and all the kids thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

My thanks to Teresa, Mark, Paul and Oliver for helping on the day.”

Brierfield Celtic were awarded the Billy Clegg Memorial Trophy.
